Although it was already possible to remove the player control bar of YouTube videos you embed on your site, it was only last week that YouTube allowed you and me to remove the YouTube logo from the control bar itself.
Compare the two video snapshots below.
Notice that the first video above (Default) has the YouTube logo in the player control. While the one on the right doesn’t.
The difference is that in the embed code for the “Modest Branding” video, I simply added the following string at the end of the URL for the video in the embed code:
?modestbranding=1.
Meaning that in the embed code for the video (reproduced below), you would simply add the string this way…
<iframe width=”640″ height=”390″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/t8gFovSizAM?modestbranding=1” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>
And that’s all there is to it. Now you know.
And, now that you know, how would you propose using this in your own production projects? Are there any advantages of one versus the other?
Get the player I use for my self-hosted videos. If you found this article helpful, and want to start hosting your own screencasts and training videos for sale or in a members’ only site, then you’ll want to check out Easy Video Player. It’s on my “Recommends” list.
